Fostering Innovation at Azur Technology
Turning internal innovation into real solutions
At Azur Technology, innovation is at the very core of what we do. For us, it’s about creating the right conditions for ideas to emerge, for people to surprise themselves with what they can achieve. Over the past two months, we put that philosophy into action by running a series of hackathons that brought our teams together in new ways, and gave us a glimpse of the future of insurance technology.
Creating Space for Ideas
Day-to-day work in insurance tech can be complex and highly structured. Hackathons give our team the opportunity to step outside of that structure and ask: What if we did things differently?
We invited colleagues from across the business, engineers, product managers, and others who wanted to challenge themselves, to take part. The only guidance: focus on real problems and have fun!
Being given the space and time to explore these ideas not only let our team show off their creativity, but also sparked new opportunities for us and our customers. People asked questions like:
- How could AI automate some of the most repetitive parts of our work?
- What if underwriting decisions could be accelerated with intelligent agents?
- Could we make document creation a task for business users, not just developers?
From Challenges to Breakthroughs
What stood out most was how quickly our teams moved from big questions to practical solutions. In just a few hours, we saw prototypes emerge that tackled challenges our industry has wrestled with for years:
- Faster rating execution: Tools that cut a process taking minutes down to just one or two seconds.
- Smarter document generation: Word add-ins that empowered self-service, paired with validation tools to ensure accuracy before client delivery.
- Automation of repetitive tasks: Chatbots that could create components or handle templating work in the background.
- Early experiments with agentic AI: Submission agents that tested underwriting rules on real examples and suggested next steps.
None of these ideas were hypothetical. They were built in real time, by the people closest to the problems, who know where the inefficiencies live and how technology can solve them.
Why It Matters
The prototypes that came out of these sessions are already influencing our product roadmap. But just as important, the mindset of experimentation is spreading across the company. People are asking “what if?” more often. They’re thinking about how AI and automation can open doors, rather than simply optimize processes. They’re looking for opportunities to collaborate beyond their usual circles.
And that’s the kind of culture we want to nurture. One where innovation isn’t an event, it’s a way of working.
Looking Ahead
These hackathons were just the beginning. We’ll continue running them, experimenting with new themes, and pushing ourselves to think differently. Each event strengthens not only the solutions we can bring to market, but also the culture we’re building together at Azur.
The future of insurance will be shaped by technology, yes, but also by the people who have the imagination to reimagine it. And we’re proud that at Azur, those people are ours.
